Random Word Assocation

On the day of 10th December, the lecturer Radzi Bedu had introduce a new method of being creative to us ~ Random word Association. Put 2 seemingly un-realated words together and comes out with a new idea. Unlike juxtaposition which literally mix 2 items together, random word association only insert the characterisic of one word into another, which seemingly is better than juxtaposition in my opinion.

So ~~ again we were asked to do some in-class exercise which about "How to make a person to stop smoking in 6 months time" . Our outcomes need to be based on the characteristics of this ~~
Yup !!! traffic light!

the words that given are:
1. Colour
2. Metal
3. Dirty
4. Sign

 Sign
-sign which represent the heartbeat figure

 Dirty
-chemical substance which constantly make the shirt dirty by the smoke.
Metal
- feels hot if keep smoking

Juxtaposition

So we were introduced to the concept of "Juxtaposition" on 3rd December 2012 which happend to be another method for us to become more creative ~ Juxtaposition basically means that combining 2 different things and comes up with something new~ so 1st we were asked to create an animal which is complete un-survive-able. And it turns out ( said by the lecturer ) should be something with a fish head and bird body ( sorry I can't find the image that the lecturer shared to us )

So after that ~ we were asked to chose a 3 pairs of number from the digit 0 ~ 9
I chose 86 02 16
then we were asked to search for the pairs of words according to the numbers we chose based on these arrangement
1.Flower                   0.Head
2.Lightning               9.Rain
3.Ice                          8.Wood
4.Light                      7.Tree
5.Fire                        6.Spider
6.Duck                     5.Root
7.Dog                       4.Mountain
8.Oil                         3.Wind
9.Leave                    2.Rock
0.Fly                         1.Water

so it turns out that my combination are :-

1. 86 > oil spider
2. 02 > fly rock
3. 16 > flower spider

and we were asked to develop our combination into sentences and images ~ which I will upload later on ~ stay tuned ~ =D

 1)In the oil there's a spider.
2)The bird fly and hit the rock.
3)In the flower there's spider.

                                                   Most left         Middle          Most right
Oil spider       Fly rock        Flower spider

Apply Mind Mapping

Okay so in the day 26th November 2012, our lead lecturer (we have 3 lecturers for the subject "Creative Studies") Radzi Bedu had revised us about the concept of mind mapping and the things I scare the most finally happened... EXERCISE IN CLASS !!!

so...we are asked to reorganise the usage of these things ~
mortar and pestle ~ =D

okay so I'll post the pictures of my reorganization ~ XD

 Death                                                                                     Medical
- A sign to differentiate gender in the graveyard                        -use it as a massage tool
                                                     Weapon
                                                    - As a bomb !!!!!!

Random topic

okay so out of nowhere my lecturer posted 2 links on our learning centre on the day which I forgotten

http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/tech/article/japans-gadget-failures-the-futures-that-never-happened/
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-20400239

So it turns out that the two creation is a BIG failure, I dont think it is really a BIIIIIIIG failure, just that they didn't found the right buyers ~ but it's true that not enery single innovation and creation is a big success. Not that much innovation brings a big impact to the society though ~ the lastest thing bring "bam" the world I think is the apple iPhone. It brang the world the a whole new level in in telecommunication field.

But none of us can deny that Japanese has most of the so-called creative person since they invented many many things seems useless for us. But at least they created it, so others can find the weakness and innovates it ~

What made someone to comes out a great outcomes is DARE TO FAIL

Mind Mapping

So ~ in the day of 19th November2012 our lecturer talkd about how can we explore our mind through mind mapping. Since our brain does not work in sequence, the idea just pop up out of nowhere, mind mapping can help us to boost up our creativity.

The most famous person that introduce the concept of mind mapping is Tony Buzan.

Mind map is a good method because :-
1. Straight forward
2. Informative
3. Do not need to go in sequence

So here is a link that introduce the method for mind mapping that the lecturer gave us to watch during the class~ Enjoy !!!~~

History of Creative Person

Okay so now it's the time to confess, my blog had been dead for many weeks since last time a lecturer ( not willing to reveal ) did not post the title for our blog homework in our student learning centre . Plus, that time I was busy lazy. So now it's the time to make everything back in place !!!! BUCKLE UP AND READY FOR ALL THE INFORMATION TO FLOW INTO YOUR MIND !!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

So first ,in the day of 12th of November 2012 ~ the lecutrer told us about the history of being "creative"

1st : We've discussed about the distribution of ancient ages in creativity field~ we talked about Mesopotamian, Egypt , India, China and many more. Discuss how they became so creative with the limited source they have.

2nd : After that the lecturer talked about how the ancient ages show their creativity. Through law, Government, Religion, Architecture, Techonology, Sculpture, Paintings, Music, Drama, Philosophy and Literature ~~~~~~

Invention, Innovation

Okay so this post is kinda late coz actually we din get anything on our lecture class for homework and so I was sooooooo in relax mode and BANG! one homework came out on our student learning centre... Orz

I thought it was for other class then realised the lecture lesson only have one classes...

Okay so basically this is our question ~

"1. Visit the http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/tech/article/the-pc-is-dead-long-live-the-tablet/
What does it tell us about the process of invention and innovation?
2. And this one http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-20071644. Ask yourself what kind of environment, situation etc., would make you to become a creative/inventive/innovative person?"

source :- mmlscyber.mmu.edu.my

So for the 1st question ~ what does the article tell me about the process of invention and innovation
Okay invention make a new way or thing for human to access their work. Innovation made it even better than before ~ I know how amazing that it's talk about how tablet will made changes in 4 years time and all dekstop will be eliminated ~ it is sort fo undeniable ~ long words in short ~ human become lazier and lazier
and I do not deny it ~ =3=

So 2nd ~ what kind of environment or situation would create a better atmosphere for me to become more creative / inventive / innovative person ~
for me I think it's during pure silence ... I can think without any disturb ~ of course with some nice music would be better ~

But of course it is just personal thing. Creativity actually just lay inside our "locker" just waiting the right timing and right occasion to unlocked it. What is the perfect condition to make great idea? For me, I think it's when a group of people and gathered and gave a question to solve, everyone get brainstorming , everyone gives an idea and BAM! nice thing come out ~
Neh ~~~ not everytime though ~ of course it works sometimes ~ but creativity is not something we can force to have , but of course we can use technic to become creative ~ =D ~ at least that's what my lecturer said ~

Creativity

WARNING ! THIS POST IS KINDA LONG !!!

Kay so now it's the 2nd assignment that we're given ~ in the 2nd lecture of our course Creative Studies. We've been taught by one of our lecturer ,Mr Yap about the ideas of creativity. We've been asked to find 5 words that come into our head that associate with "Creativity" and another 5 words that is not associate with "Creativity". Right after the discussion ~ Mr Yap gave us to watch this video

I found this with the English and Chinese subtitles in it because for me I hardly listened to what he's saying during my lecture class so I hope this help y'all to understand better ~ out of the topic, some would say "Stop relying to subtitle you need to start learn how to hear in English". Okay Im fine with the hearing part but what's wrong with subtitle? No matter how big is your talk if others can't understand you you're just long-winded for them. So I just want to say that I learn how to hear from viewing subtitle and listen how they playing with the words and the pronounciation. Kay?

Okay enough for that part ~ let's move on to the lecture part ~ we also asked to respond and reflect on this video. So ~ let's get started !

First , for the video part. It's undeniable that it enlighten me in the part of education. It's obvious that the aim of the public education nowadays is to produce worker, MANY workers. Way before university life, we were taught that "learn your Math and Science ! It will be helpful in your future.". Yeah math and science can apply on many field and also very useful in daily life , but the concept in primary school that I received was nearly "Be good at Math and Science or DIE !!!!!!!!" About the talent part, yup~ as a Malaysian ~ another typical product of pubilc education ~ (NO OFFENDING ANYONE)

We were instill intensely that Art field, (eg : dance, sing, drawing) is for hopeless people. Those people chose art field is not because they want to but they have to because they have no choice to do anything else. If all this thing finally gets into what it wants, everyone walks in the street is a lawyer, businessman or a doctor. How would it be? No art = No entertainment! But, this concept wasn't present for the first time, and ofcourse this will not be the last time ~ there sure will be someone else inspired by Sir Ken Robinson and present this concept to more people as a homage to him. But lets think, would it work? Ofcourse it is easier when it just moving our mouth.

Not blaming that Sir Ken Robinson didn't took a higher step but would this concept work for the entire world? Just as he said, "The public education taught us that mistakes are stigmatized". Most of the people thinks that way, so do our upper level. They would not make a move on changing the eduation system because in the starting of begins something new ofcourse there would be some arguments and so called "research" that the things won't work and somehow the public would turn into chaos.

We are educated to be afraid of making mistakes, ironically that's the biggest mistake of today's education system. Mistake is a must in order to be creative. Without the fear of scaring the consequences, we are able to be creative to do whatever we want. At least that's how I felt.

Okay now for the words part,

Associate "Creativity"

1. Peculiar
As everyone know not that every "creative" ideas are acceptable by the public, sometimes it's not even acceptable. Someone just thought that being creative is being a totally outcast has the deep persistence of "being myself" and "I don't care about what others think about me I just want to express myslef." For me, it does not deserve the word "Creative" it's just plain "Peculiar" or "Queer" but since queer has a pun so I'll rather say it's peculiar. "Creative" that is acceptable for pubilc is "Impressive" and "Creative" that impress no one else except for self is "Pathetic". PERSONAL OPINION

2. Risk taking
Being creative means you're no longer in your comfort zone. Being creative you need to be prepared to take all the consequences that's gonna happen. Being creative isn't always dote by others and sometimes may be detest by others so I say it's Risk Taking

3. Fun
Being creative is all about being fun! If you're a dull person, you will never a creative person. You need to seek the fun part of life in order to be creative. Because it's fun to be creative as creative is FUN !!!

4. Believing
Believe that everything can happens is very important in order to be creative. If you have some idea that is interesting but at the last you didn't take a move just because you're not believe that it would works then it's just plain daydreaming. Believe in every posibility and change imposibble to possible !!

5. Never ending
Plagiarism is normal in industry especially in design field. If someone stole your artwork and you be so depressed and claim that you're dying because you can't come out with any better idea since it's the best idea already, that means you are a not enough creative person. An idea won't just stop there, anything can be better in different way, just that it changes from "Creative" to "Innovative". Just like mobile phone, the dial-ing service reach the pinnacle and they start adding different features like camera, internet and stuff. An idea won't just stop there, as long as you stop being "creative".

5 words NOT associate "Creativity"

1. Comfort Zone
There is no doubt that being in comfort zone is the way of surviving in the industry, I don't make mistake I won't get fired. In order to be creative you need to come out of the comfort zone and start gone wild !!!

2. Fine
It's a classic lesson in primary school that teacher would teach us when others said "How are you?" and we MUST answer "Im fine thank you.". Ever since you'll give the same respond in your entire life. Most of us is satisfied by "fine" quality, we don't pursue for perfection we are satisfied by "fine". Ofcourse not everything is perfect and not everything need to be perfect but we need to change our mind of being satisfied by "fine". Because we are satisfied by "fine" so we will just work for it, we won't give any more effort to work harder to get a higher satisfactory. Start thinking that being "fine" is not fine at all !!!

3. Norm
It's not "normal" it's "norm". Being not creative had become a norm. Most of the people thought that since I can still survive without killing all my brain cells just to prove that I am creative I'll rather just do what others do. Since nobody "starts" to be creative so the surroundings is "stopped" to be creative. Kinda like contagious.

4. End
Many people just simply thought that something it had reaches the end of innovation. At this point people stopped to be creative.

5. Lazy
Most of the people is not that they're not creative just that they're lazy to be. They lazy to think, lazy for brainstorming, lazy for EVERYTHING.

Okay I'll should stopped here, thank you for your patience for reading~ =D

The function of the mysterious pink thingy

So for the same day we also asked by our lecturer for guessing the function of a little pink thingy.
okay so 1st of all ~ the thing is basically a helicopter alike thing without the plane.( sorry currently I cant upload the photo yet but I'll upload it as soon as possible please try to imagine it 1st ... >"<)

In my opinion ~ these are some of my opinion about what the function of this little pink thing :~

1) It might be use as a "comfortable handbag carrier". Okay so we put the strips that we supposed to hold to the chimney-alike part, then we hold the helicopter's wing-alike part so our hand won't directly rub with the strips so it can reduce the friction between the strips and our hand so that our hand can be more comfortable. Get it ? =D

2) It also might be a "wire keeper". So we roll the wire over the helicopter wing-alike part then we put the edge into the chimney-alike part. So our place can be more clean and tidy ~ since now we all using computer and all the wires are flying around everytime so this thing should be very helpful for us. ~ =D

So far this is all I can think of about the function of the "Object of Curiousity"( my lecturer actually named it ... =.= ). ~ Thank you for reading this ~ O(∩_∩)O

ps : okay the picture is done ~ FINALLY !!!!!!!!!!!! XD

image source : from my lecturer uploaded file ~ I captured it again with my mum's phone ... >"<

Why Titanic hit the iceberg?

Okay this is our 1st question given by our lecturer (actually this is the 2nd one but I want to publish this first ~ =3=). We're asked that why Titanic hit the iceberg ~ Since this subject is called "Creative Studies" so I wonder that the is lecturer expecting us to give a creative reason or a somehow realistic reason? ==
But since the lecturer is asking for our opinions and said that need to be reasoning so I think it'll be okay ~ =D. So basically I have come out with some thinking ~

For me, I think that the Titanic will hit the iceberg is because
1. The technology for that time is not good enough to do a good detection for obstacles. Besides, since it travelled in a long time, maybe the machines are overheated so it can't function as usual.

2. Since Titanic is a long journey cruise ship and the captain is a human-being as well. So it may be just because of the lack of rest of the captain. The captain is too tired until he didn't even notice that there is a big iceberg.

So far that is all I thought is reasonable for why Titanic hit the iceberg based on my opinion. Thank you ~ =D
